Cort, her cousin/"assistant" Melissa and Paper Shannon embarked on a Northern Michigan adventure April 20 for the LPVA Media Weekend. From offroading in a bus to tales of cougars and porcupines, it was an action-packed event. What's your favorite Leelanau Peninsula winery? Come tell us about it!
This edition of WIOG Weekly Roundup features wines we tried on the Leelanau Peninsula and in Traverse City over Labor Day. As we often stress, we're not wine experts, but we do taste a lot of Michigan wine. (You may have noticed.) WIOG is our attempt to give you an idea of some selections that you may be interested in checking out based on what we've been tasting. Cheers!
A lot of this podcast ended up on the cutting room floor — including a half-second chunk off the end, which we'll fix on re-upload later today — due to Cort's antics, but the bottom line is, Shannon fawns over a Chateau de Leelanau Pinot Noir. And Charlie Sheen makes a cameo.
You may have at least heard of or seen our Michigan wine app for iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch and Android — hopefully, you own it, use it and love it! Now, you have a chance to be IN it.
Welcome to Feedback Friday, our weekly feature that works like this: We solicit comments about a specific winery or wineries. You supply them. We pick some to include in our app. You become famous (at least in the Michigan wine community). The end.
Bowers Harbor Vineyards
Chateau de Leelanau
Lemon Creek Winery
Send your comments on these wineries to firstname.lastname@example.org or post them as a reply to today's Feedback Friday thread on Facebook. We'll be accepting Feedback Friday comments for these featured wineries until next Friday, when we'll introduce a new set. (Of course, feel free to come chatter on Facebook about the wineries you love just for fun any old time. We dig that.)

Engines were revving and wine was flowing during the 2012 Great Lakes Wine Fest at the Michigan International Speedway May 19. Winemakers and winery reps declared it a huge success, with cooperative weather and bigger-than-ever crowds. Take a peek at the action, and if you were there, see if you made it into the footage!
Congratulations to KRISTI LOWRIE! She was randomly drawn from yesterday's entrants to win a special "library" tasting at Peninsula Cellars with John Kroupa and Matt Frollo. Kristi, please email us at email@example.com within 48 hours to claim your prize. (For prizes not claimed within 48 hours, we will redraw from the original pool of entrants to determine a new recipient, so be sure to check back daily to see if you're a winner!)

Is it coffee ... or perhaps coffee? You'd think Shannon was at Starbucks as he proudly offers up coffee as a taste descriptor — more than once while sampling Chateau de Leelanau's 2010 Cabernet Franc. Meanwhile, Cort resorts to a very eloquent "two thumbs up." All you need to know is "good" and "coffee," apparently. In other breaking news, we manage to rein ourselves in on time once more. (Having a timer in sight helps reduce Cort's blather, even if it doesn't fully eradicate it.)
Congratulations to SHARI KIMBRO! She was randomly selected from yesterday's entries to win complimentary traditional and ice wine tastings for two plus two souvenir logo wine glasses from Brys Estate Vineyard & Winery.
For Day 19, we're revisiting Chateau de Leelanau in Suttons Bay! Today's prize is a Chateau de Leelanau T-shirt bearing the winery's cool barn-with-a-wine-bottle-silo logo on it. Winner can choose the size. If you haven't stopped by Chateau de Leelanau on M-22 recently, we recommend you do — a lot has changed! (May we modestly suggest taking a peek at our video feature on CDL?)
Congratulations to BETH HUBERT FERGUSON! She was randomly selected from yesterday's entries to win a women's black "Group Therapy" shirt from Bowers Harbor Vineyards.
To celebrate Saturday and Day 9 of MBTB's SUPER HUGE Michigan Wine Month Giveaway, we're giving out a $25 gift certificate to Chateau de Leelanau. If you haven't stopped by CDL lately, the winery came under new ownership last summer and the tasting room and wine lineup are totally revamped! It's located right on M-22, one of your first stops on the Leelanau Peninsula wine trail.
