It’s going to be a good year for Michigan wines.
The hot, dry summer that spelled disaster for most Michigan fruit crops had the opposite effect on wine grapes. Vintners around the state are expecting one of their best years ever, thanks to drought-sweetened grapes and fruit-heavy vines, said Marie-Chantal Dalese of the Michigan Wine Producers Association.
Most wine grapes are being harvested now, some a full month early because of the unusually warm spring and summer.
