Exercise your feet, then your thirst, at the Leelanau Peninsula Vintner's Association's annual Harvest Stompede. The self-guided wine tour of LPVA member wineries spans the weekend, with wine and food pairings at each stop. The celebration kicks off with an optional 7-mile run and 5K run/walk at 9 a.m. Saturday at Ciccone Vineyard. Tickets for the weekend are $40 apiece or $25 for a designated driver. Sandhill Crane Vineyards in Jackson is teaming up with the Jackson Audubon Society, Michigan Audubon Society, Legacy Land Conservancy, Michigan Department of Natural Resources and the communities around the Waterloo-Pinckney Recreation Area to celebrate the sandhill crane — as in, the bird itself. In the winter and spring months, the tours go into the wine cellar and focus on winemaking and cellar practices' influence on wine styles/flavors.
