You may have seen us babbling on Facebook and Twitter about the Michigan By The Bottle iPhone app and thought we were full of it because it was taking so long. It took us longer than anticipated to provide you with content on EVERY WINERY IN THE STATE, but we're happy to report that it's FINALLY HERE!
Here are five things you need to know about the new MBTB app:
1. It's live and available on the iTunes store.
Head on over to the iTunes store and download it now for $2.99! Click on the link, or log into the iTunes store and search for "Michigan By The Bottle" or just "Michigan wine."
Sorry, Droid users; for right now, the app only functions on those two devices. If and when the company we partnered with to create the app decides to expand into Droid and/or other platforms, we'll be sure to let you know.
3. It (hopefully!) will become your definitive guide to Michigan wineries.
With profiles of every winery in the state, along with contact info, photos, maps, profiles, tasting room price policies, links to related Michigan By The Bottle content and lists of what we recommend sampling, we hope our app will help you as you travel Michigan wine country! The wineries are even sortable by various categories, including by wine trail, by those providing entertainment and food, etc.
4. We wrote all of the content ourselves.
It took what seemed like forever, but together we penned profiles every winery in the state! You'll notice some descriptions are longer or more detailed than others; we got more in depth about the wineries we've visited personally and, therefore, know more about. Some we'd never been to (or ever even heard of!), so we had to rely on their websites for the background info to help us as we wrote the profiles. For photos, we used many of our own, augmented by images provided by the wineries or used (with credit) from their websites.
5. We'll be updating it frequently.
We're counting on you, wine lovers, winemakers and winery representatives, to let us know if you see any omissions or errors. We're committed to having an accurate app, and we'll be releasing regular updates as we visit more wineries and elaborate on their profiles, correct any typos or errors, add photos, etc.
We hope you enjoy the app, and if so, please consider writing a review on the iTunes store page and/or telling your friends about MBTB! Any questions about the app, please e-mail us at wine@michiganbythebottle.com.
